AUTOMATED LARGE-VOLUME PYROLYSIS FOR GC-MS AND GC-MS/MS
Large-volume pyrolysis, large sample crucibles, and automated handling with the PAL RSI / PAL RTC for reproducible pyrolysis, efficient pyrolysate collection, and subsequent GC-MS analysis. |
Concept:The new Chromtech Large-Volume Pyrolysis Oven extends the automated pyrolysis workflow by enabling the handling of significantly larger sample amounts. This allows the use of large ceramic sample crucibles, making it particularly suitable for microplastics analysis. |
The pyrolysis products are transferred through a heated transfer line onto the PDMS sorbent material inside the OPTIC liner. They are then thermally desorbed, chromatographically separated, and analyzed using GC-MS or GC-MS/MS systems. |
Key Benefits:
Fully Automated WorkflowFrom sample crucible to GC-MS/MS analysis1. Crucible retrieval: The PAL RSI removes the sample crucible from the dedicated stack drawer using a custom gripper tool. 2. Oven loading: The oven lid opens automatically and the crucible is placed onto the quartz platform. 3. Pyrolysis: The oven closes, locks pneumatically, and the programmed pyrolysis process is started by the PAL system. 4. Pyrolysate collection: The pyrolysis products are transferred via the heated transfer line and trapped on the PDMS sorbent in the OPTIC liner. 5. Liner transfer: The PAL RTC transfers the OPTIC liner to the OPTIC injector. 6. GC-MS analysis: Thermal desorption, gas chromatographic separation, and detection by GC-MS or GC-MS/MS. |
